Arsenal Football Club Scouting Report

Arsenal Football Club scouting report in form of Slideshare presentation from 2015/16 season (in the bottom of the article), before the Premier League game 23 against Chelsea. A brief introduction about Arsenal’s game model before the scouting report:

Arsenal is training by Arsene Wenger. The Wenger’s game model is based on long possession and controlling the possession in the opposition’s half. High pressure, and fast players in the flanks to create danger in counter attack situations. He has used 1-4-2-3-1 during his career.

Arsenal is using  1-4-2-3-1 when the team is attacking. When the team is in defensive phase, changed to 1-4-4-2.

This Arsenal has the Wenger’s identity in its play. Slow possession from the back, but high intensity with the ball arrive to zone 3. The ball progression is through short passes and high mobility off ball.  Players have freedom to create score opportunity when the ball arrives to zone 4.

A highlight detail during this season is the change in the Arsenal game model against top European teams as Bayern Munchen, with long balls to the strike instead to short passes progression from the back. The Arsenal’s strikes possess a great aerial game abilities. Thus, Arsenal gets to avoid the rival pressure. In the Champions League game against Bayern Munchen, Arsenal changed its short passes style for a long passes to avoid the Bayern pressure.  This experiments was good for Wenger in the game in London (2-0), but in Munchen, Arsenal received a strong punishment for give up his style (5-1). Therefore, I think Wenger will think better in the future when he wants to give up to his game model again.

Right now, Arsenal has important players with injuries. Players as Alexis Sanchez, Danny Wellbeck, Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky, and Francis Coquelin.

I hope you enjoy with this scouting report.
